Cécile Mc Lorin Salvant has from her childhood her musical singularity: daughter of a French mother and a Haitian father, raised in the musical and cultural culture of Miami, Florida, she studied piano very early, Sings and listens to a wide variety of music from his family. Then she discovered opera in Aix-en-Provence where she studied law, and then the roots of jazz and American music thanks to the jazz saxophonist Jean-François Bonniel. An irony of fate that launched his career quickly crowned with prestigious awards: nominations for the Grammy Awards, Django Reinhardt Prize from the Jazz Academy, Victory of jazz in 2022... From album to album (Ghost Song, Mélusine), from concerts in festivals, Cécile Mc Lorin Salvant never ceases to expand her live performances. Le jazz est toute sa vie. Cécile Mc Lorin Salvant tient de son enfance sa singularité musicale : fille d’une mère française et d’un père haïtien, élevée dans la culture musicale et culturelle de Miami en Floride, elle étudie très tôt le piano, chante et écoute une grande variété de musiques auprès de sa famille.

Puis elle découvre l’opéra à Aix-en-Provence où elle étudie le droit, puis les racines du jazz et de la musique américaine grâce au saxophoniste de jazz Jean-François Bonniel. Une ironie du destin qui lance sa carrière vite auréolée de distinctions prestigieuses : nominations aux Grammy Awards, Prix Django Reinhardt de l’Académie du jazz, Victoire du jazz en 2022…

D’album en album (Ghost Song, Mélusine), de concerts en festivals, Cécile Mc Lorin Salvant ne cesse d’élargir ses performances live. Et d’embrasser un vaste répertoire entre jazz, blues, folk, pop voire même des inspirations du côté du théâtre musical et du vaudeville. Un exploit !
