Presentation

The town of Six-Fours-Les-Plages has upgraded the Parc de la Méditerranée, which was inaugurated in 1988 (almost 36 years ago).
It begins at the Maison du Cygne (a remarkable garden and art center), follows the Chemin de La Coudoulière, which has been completely renovated as a pedestrian walkway through the natural, peaceful atmosphere of the woods and the Domaine de la Coudoulière to the marina, crosses the Parc Méditerranée, and ends at the Batterie du Cap Nègre, transformed into an art exhibition space, like a lookout planted against the Azur of sea and sky.

Beyond the imaginary world to which its name is linked, this park takes us on a journey through the diverse landscapes of regions with a Mediterranean climate and the scents of maquis and garrigue.

Like a great belvedere overlooking the sea, the Parc de la Méditerranée offers an ambitious layout worthy of the site. Based on the geography of the site, its floors, viewpoints, contrasts, open or enclosed spaces... we have chosen to propose layouts oriented towards the sea.

The site comprises both an urban park on the city side, with a concentration of equipment and facilities, and a natural park facing the sea, where the facilities will be very restrained and respectful of the area's natural character.
In the "landscaped" park, there will be numerous areas for relaxation and discovery:

- themed gardens (arid garden and acclimatization garden) with botanical collections specific to these ecosystems, a Mediterranean garden with a water trail, an aquatic garden with a pond and water jets running alongside a large pergola;

- the Jardin des Spectacles, with a new stage area dedicated to summer shows, and a Jardin des Contes with a more intimate stage area dedicated to readings and stories;

- a children's play area featuring a new marine-themed playground, and a "teen" area with the creation of a bowl for thrill-seekers (skateboards, scooters and bmx);

- The new facilities also include thematic signage throughout the site, to familiarize visitors with naturalist notions of botany, fauna, geology, etc.

The park is designed to protect Mediterranean resources in a sustainable way, particularly drinking water. The water used for watering and supplying the pools and water jets comes from a borehole drilled in the beach below the park.

The Parc de la Méditerranée is a must-see site in the Var. It's a great place to stroll, a great place to play and a great viewpoint over our Mediterranean shores.
