Program: FIRST CONFERENCE

Johann Sebastian BACH 1685-1750
Considered by the Romantics to be the father of Germanic music, the Leipzag Cantor composed extensively in all genres except opera. Although he never left Germany, he worked in several cities and princely courts, the most important of which were Cöthen, Weimar and Leipzig. We take a look at three emblematic works by this virtuoso and master of counterpoint: The Well-Tempered Clavier, the Brandenburg Concertos and the St. Matthew Passion.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR 2025:
Thursday, February 27 - Ludwig van BEETHOVEN
Thursday, March 27 - Johannes BRAHMS
Thursday, April 24 - Frédéric CHOPIN
Thursday, March 22 - Claude DEBUSSY
In each of these lectures, we use projections, videos and musical extracts to situate the composer in his or her own time, and take a more in-depth look at one, two or three representative works by each of them, revealing ways to listen to them.
