Nestling in a wooded valley, Châteaudouble offers a picturesque setting with its stone houses, narrow streets and quaint staircases.
Perched on the edge of a cliff, the village towers 130 metres above the Nartuby gorges.
Its narrow streets climb up to the ruins of the castle. The entrance to the village is cut into a huge boulder, and the road cuts into the rock for 40 metres.
Opposite Châteaudouble, on the other side of the Gorges, are the ruins of a second castle.
