On the chestnut trail

The Chestnut Festival is a major local festival bringing together chestnut growers, craftsmen and artists. Several villages in the Massif des Maures, including La Garde-Freinet, celebrate this sweet-tasting fruit in unison. Take the opportunity to discover the riches of this marvellous massif, which covers almost a quarter of the Var and is home to a forest of hundred-year-old cork oaks, holm oaks and chestnut trees. Under the shade of these trees, you'll discover a host of monuments, including the magnificent Chartreuse de la Verne.
