Gendarmerie and Cinema Museum

Housed in the former gendarmerie in St-Tropez, made famous by the Gendarme series of films starring Louis de Funès, the Musée de la Gendarmerie Nationale offers 2 trails, one dedicated to the authentic history of the gendarmerie and the other to the history of cinema in Saint-Tropez. Between myhte and nostalgia..

In the museum of the gendarmerie and cinema in Saint-Tropez, you'll find lots of surprises, each as entertaining as the next! You'll discover a 60s replica of a gendarme's office, step into a retro cinema dedicated entirely to the Gendarmes saga, and set off on the Nationale 7 (the famous holiday route!) in 2CV and Simca Aronde cabins. You can also party in St-Tropez and meet Romy Schneider and Brigitte Bardot in their dressing rooms during the filming of "Et Dieu... créa la femme" (1956) and "La Piscine" (1968)...

The Var (and the South in general!) is also one of the great regions of French cinema. The Musée de la Gendarmerie in St Tropez pays tribute to this, with installations that are sure to please film buffs!
