The Musée de la Citadelle in Saint-Tropez offers an immersive exploration of local maritime history through fascinating exhibitions.
This museum is an invitation to meet the famous figures of St-Tropez, such as the Bailli de Suffren or General Allard, as well as the thousands of anonymous sailors who served the State on board warships or who faced the storms on board merchant ships.
Visitors to the Citadelle will be able to follow the city's sailors around the world's seas, on a guided tour of the museum: from coastal navigation and fishing along the Provencal coast, to sailing on the great cargo ships around Cape Horn, via harvesting voyages along the coasts of Africa and India, not forgetting the voyages of the liners on the famous Far East line.
The citadel of Saint-Tropez will reveal the greatest secrets of local maritime history.

The Citadel has crowned the city for over 400 years. The maritime history museum has been set up in the heart of its keep. The keep, built between 1602 and 1608, was joined a few years later by a large bastioned enclosure and a system of moats and counterscarps. As the most important defensive element between Antibes and Toulon, the Citadelle is one of the only monuments of this scale on the Provencal coast. At the foot of the ramparts, you'll discover a superb panorama of the Bay of Saint-Tropez.
