The Var is a vast playground! A pine forest, a seaside, a river or simply radiant sunshine are enough to awaken the senses of the youngest (and the oldest, for that matter). However, the facilities and amusement parks, both indoor and aquatic, are redoubling their inventiveness to offer activities that will satisfy their boundless energy!
Play areas are dotted all over Le Var, each with a landscape worth seeing: a mountain in the distance, a botanical garden or a breathtaking view of the sea. You can let the kids have as much fun as they want, in complete safety, thanks to the cushioned rubber floor and age-appropriate games. Some areas even have basketball or football pitches, picnic tables and sports trails, like the Plan de la Mer leisure area in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, for example, or the play area in the Villecroze municipal park next to the astonishing caves (which you can also visit), offering a magnificent, out-of-the-ordinary view.
Other areas full of the promise of shared laughter and joy : gardens and parks. While they may delight parents with their natural diversity, they are above all large play areas where children can let off steam at their leisure. At La Garde, you can discover the Espace Nature Départemental du Plan: unique in the south of France, this vast 135-hectare area, classified as a natural zone of interest for flora and fauna, is a delight for young and old alike. The Jardin Départemental du Las in Toulon is a lesser-known site, but boasts a plant heritage of rare beauty, including a shaded play area next to a small stream that is very popular with children. In Hyères-les-Palmiers, the Olbius Riquier park is home to a botanical garden covering almost 7 hectares, where children can enjoy games and a merry-go-round, as well as a pony ride and a tour of the park on a miniature train.
It's sometimes difficult for parents of very young children to find theme parks where they can do absolutely everything. However, there are structures specially adapted for this young audience. This is particularly true of indoor amusement parks, where they can work out in complete safety, winter and summer alike. They can slide, bounce, climb and jump on inflatable or foam structures.
Some theme parks also offer activities for children aged 2 to 12. Trampolines, ball pools and merry-go-rounds will keep them busy all day long.
Some water parks have paddling pools with water games or mini slides.
For even more fun and contact with nature and animals, don't forget that educational farms and animal parks offer all kinds of activities for looking after or observing animals, such as Var Lamas in Six-Fours-les-Plages or the Village des tortues in Carnoules.
