The Var coast is one of France’s top destinations for water sports. You’ll be sailing on water of rare quality in ideal weather conditions.
These include windsurfing, kitesurfing, sport catamarans and dinghies.
The Var coastline, with its top-quality stretches of water and very favourable weather conditions, is ideal for light sailing and board sports.
The diversity of activities means that everyone can find the thrill of the water that suits them best.
From the spots at l'Almanarre in Hyères, the bay of Brutal Beach in Six-Fours-Les-Plages or the beach at Saint-Aygulf, you can enjoy windsurfing to your heart's content, either on your own or with a sailing school or club.
Windsurfing is the ultimate board sport, and its first steps were taken in the Var! The 1990s were the height of the sport, when you could admire a profusion of multicoloured sails criss-crossing each other. This was also the period when the Funboard World Cup was held at l'Almanarre. For more than 10 years, the best funboaders in the world came to challenge each other on the Var coast at Hyères. Now the sport is making a comeback, and the sails of the boards are sharing the water with the wings of the kites!
Kitesurfing: easier to learn than windsurfing, it's a huge success. A feeling of freedom and lightness will wash over you - pure bliss!
The practice of kitesurfing is regulated: departure zones from beaches and navigation zones are identified. Kitesurfing schools often offer off-shore courses with assistance.
Dinghy, optimist, 420, lazer...
